In order to implement the plan for promoting rural vitalization issued by the Beijing Municipal People’s Government of the Communist Party of China, by building a platform and integrating resources, the Agricultural Machinery Division of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has created a test application scenario for cherry tomato harvest robots to solve the shortcomings of the labor cost of fruit and vegetable picking, the difficulty in achieving grading, and the serious lack of picking machinery and equipment, and promote the city’s agricultural machinery and equipment, also to make up for shortcomings and tackle key equipment technical problems.

The cherry tomato harvest robot test application scenario is provided with technical support by Beijing Airforce Technology Co., Ltd. and Research Center of the Information Technology, Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, and the standardized production and application site of cherry tomato is provided by Beijing Cuihu Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. to achieve “strong alliance, complementary advantages, and win-win cooperation.”
After several months of research and testing, the R&D team of Beijing Airforce Technology has designed a suction-type cherry tomato harvest robot, which avoids the damage to the fruit by the picking method, and adaptively adjusts the variable diameter structure to achieve rapid and efficient suction pressure and precise control. The target recognition rate is over 97%, and the positioning accuracy is ±5mm. By classifying cherry tomatoes into the white-ripening stage and the full-ripening stage, fine-graded picking can be achieved. According to preliminary tests, the cherry tomato harvest robot takes an average of 3.8 seconds to pick a single fruit, and the operation efficiency can reach 60% of the manual labor. If the 24-hour working status of the robot is calculated, the labor productivity of a single machine can surpass that of manual labor.
