Trade takes center stage at Rollins confirmation hearing

The U.S. Senate is moving forward with President Donald Trump’s pick for Agriculture Secretary, Brooke Rollins. As the head of the Department of Agriculture, Rollins would oversee a vast agency responsible for farm policies, nutrition programs, forestry, and agricultural trade.

Rollins, 52, is currently the president of the America First Policy Institute, a conservative think tank closely aligned with Trump’s policy agenda. She previously served as the acting director of the Domestic Policy Council during Trump’s first term.

Her nomination has passed the Senate Agriculture Committee and is now awaiting a full Senate vote. If confirmed, Rollins will lead an agency with over 100,000 employees, shaping agricultural policies that impact farmers, food production, and trade relations.
