The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is reminding agricultural producers to take prompt action by electing and enrolling in the 2024 County Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC), Individual Agricultural Risk Coverage (ARC-IC), or Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs. The USDA strongly encourages producers who have not yet enrolled to schedule an appointment with the Luzerne County Farm Service Agency before the looming March 15 deadline.

Critical Deadline Approaching

With the March 15 deadline fast approaching, agricultural producers are urged to act swiftly to secure their eligibility for risk programs. Failure to enroll by the close of business on March 15 will render farmers ineligible to receive payments in the event of a trigger for an eligible crop. It’s crucial for producers to be proactive and make an appointment with the Luzerne County Farm Service Agency to ensure compliance and maximize the benefits of these risk programs.

Optional Election Changes

While making an election change is optional, producers are strongly advised to consider their options carefully. Those with multi-year contracts do not require any changes, but for others, timely enrollment is essential to avoid missing out on potential financial support.
